Zakat was the first economic system of an Islamic state. It is thought of as a tax or a required gift of money to the poor. Zakat is the third most important pillar of Islam. It has played a very important role in the history of Islam, which is why Allah SWT ranks it third in the Quran. If you want to give Zakat during the Umrah then it is good idea. You can perform the Umrah by booking the umrah offers. The word “zakat” comes from the Arabic language, where it means to grow, clean, and bless. Allah SWT said in Quran:
“Take Sadqah from their property to make them clean and holy.”
Zakah in Islam
It cleans up one’s money and income, as it literally means “which that cleans up.” The same way that ablution cleans the body and prayer cleans the soul, zakat cleans the wealth and makes it pleasing to God. Our beloved Prophet, peace be upon him, said:
“Zakat is the bridge of Islam. Those who do it for the sake of God can cross it, and those who don’t do it will fall beneath it. And Zakat calms Allah Almighty’s anger.”
Abi Abdullah Al Sadiq told what Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had said:
“Allah hasn’t given this nation anything more valuable than Zakat, and because of that, many of them will die.”
Zakat is an act of worship and an important part of Islam, just like Salah, Hajj, and the fast. But only Muslims have to do it, and non-Muslims can’t be forced to do it. Allah SWT said in the Quran that those who pay zakat will get a great reward:
“In fact, those who say they believe and do good things, like pray and give charity, will get their reward from their Lord.” But people who don’t give zakat or give it late will be punished, and this is something that has been said in many hadith. He (the Prophet) said:
“Tell those who hoard wealth that a hot stone will be put on the nipples of their breasts until it comes out of their shoulder bones, and then it will be put on their shoulder bones until it comes out of the nipples of their breasts. The stone will keep hitting and moving.”
Zakat in islam
Since the Caliph state is no longer around, many people want to know how much they have to pay. Because of the way the hadith talks about zakat in general, every Muslim man, woman, and child is forced to pay it.
How Much Is It?
The Zakat nisab is equal to twenty gold miskals, which is the same as 85 grammes of gold. As zakat, people must pay 2.5% of their wealth. Ali bin Abi Talib RA is said to have said, “For every twenty dinars, you get a half dinar, and for every forty dinars, you get a dinar.” Zakat is due not only on gold, silver, and money, but also on crops and fruits, animals like camels, cows, and sheep, and trading goods and stock like shops that sell clothes, fast food, groceries, and cars, which many people in our area own. Zakat also applies to income from property, such as rent from a second home or income from any land you own.

Who Does The Zakat Go To?
Allah SWT has limited who can get zakat to eight groups, and anyone who fits into one of these groups can get zakat. The only reason we pay zakat is to please God, so we do what HE SWT tells us to do. Here’s what these eight groups are:
AL-FUQARA
Those who are poor. In this group are people who don’t get enough money or don’t make enough money to cover their basic needs, like food, shelter, and clothing. So, anyone who makes less than enough to meet his basic needs is considered poor, and giving him zakat is legal.
AL-MASAKEEN
Means that the beggars include people who have nothing and can’t take care of themselves or their families. They aren’t as poor as the poor, but they can still get zakat.
AL-AMILEEN’ALAYHA
Include people who work to collect zakat. Their pay can come from the zakat money. Prophet SAW said, “Zakat is not allowed for the rich, except for five people: those who collect sadaqah, those who give it, those who buy it with their own money, those who fight, and those who were given zakat and gave it to their neighbour.”
AL-MUALLAFATU QULUBUHUM
People whose hearts need to be healed are in this group. Zakat can be used to help Islam and Muslims or to help the communities they live in.
AL-RIQAH
It means that money was spent to set a slave free, but there are no slaves anymore.
AL-GHARIMEEN
Those who are in debt can use zakat money to pay off their debts. People use it to settle disagreements about blood money. But the debt must be Halal. Zakat isn’t due if the debt is manageable and can be paid back without any trouble.
FI-SABEELILLAH
It means that it was spent in the way of Allah the Most Powerful. It just means spending money to make Jihad happen faster and better. Whenever the word “Fi-sabeelillah” is used in the Quran, it can only mean “jihad.”
IBN US-SABEEL
Means “the wanderer.” It includes people who are on the road but can’t reach their destination because they don’t have enough money.
Both religious and modern Muslims argue a lot about the economics of zakat and how important it is in the modern world. Islam gives us a complete set of rules for living, and if we want to figure out how to fix the economy in this modern world, we need to look at the Islamic economic system, in which zakat plays a huge role. By putting the zakat system into place, we can solve not only the economic problems of Muslims, but also those of the rest of the world. The things that Prophet Muhammad SAW got were based on the permanent values of the Quran, not on things that would change quickly. He started the biggest change in human history in every area of life and did amazing things in politics and the economy. People’s finances changed when HE SAW moved to Madinah and put in place the system of Salah and Zakat. He said, “If even one person in a village goes to bed hungry, Allah’s protection is taken away from that village.” From this hadith, we can see that anyone, Muslim or not, can go to sleep hungry under the Islamic system.
So, the system of Zakat was the first time in human history that everyone got help. This system also changed the economy from being based on slaves to being based on everyone. By the end of Muhammad’s time, the unified Arabian peninsula had the best economy and political stability it had ever had. This is the best example of how this system works. And after the time of Prophet Muhammad SAW, this system was at its best during the reign of Caliph Umar RA. During His RA, very few people were in need of help.
